Two members of staff from Harper Adams University will be attending the Expo Prado taking place in Uruguay next month to share information about the courses and opportunities available at the Shropshire-based university.
Dr Leticia Chico-Santamarta, Coordinator for the Latin America and Caribbean Partnerships and Dr Richard Green, Principal Engineering Lecturer, will be based at the Harper Adams stand in the British Pavilion at the event in Montevideo.
Dr Chico-Santamarta said: “Harper Adams has already been working with institutions in Uruguay, and is pleased to be back in the country to establish new links.
“We will have a stand at the British Pavilion during the event where people can come and ask us questions about the courses and the university. I am a native Spanish speaker, so am happy to communicate in either language.
“I will also be giving a talk during the event, on September 17, about Harper Adams. The British Embassy will be speaking about the Chevening Scholarships.
“Richard and I will be mentors for HackathonAgro which is taking place at Expo Prado on September 17 and 18.”
The HackathonAgro will see forty young university students and professionals go against each other to solve challenges related to agriculture in Uruguay through the use of technology.
They will have to present a business model and a prototype developed within only 48 hours.
